You made it! What a day to rejoice you have entered a new year with new possibilities and opportunities. This year can become whatever you want it to be, but you must first envision it. The bible tells us “Where there is no vision the people perish, Proverbs 29:18”.
I want to encourage you this year to set goals not resolutions. Setting goals are important to achieving your vision. Many times, we tell our friends or loved one’s things we wish to accomplish but we never set those goals.
Talking about it just makes it a wish but writing it down makes it a goal. It is also important that we write the goal down exactly how we see it in our minds. Your goals should have details for example “I will have a red and black Range Rover vehicle by October 2024”. This goal is clear, you listed the item and detailed it along with the timeline.
Do not write your goal down as I want a car by end of 2023. This goal is not plain because it doesn’t specify which car you would like to have neither does it give a proper timeline. The word “want” speaks to a desire and that’s good, but a desire can be seen as a wish, and we are not making wishes. Writing your goals out with the words “I will have” is future tense and it sets the tone for your goals because it speaks from a place of surety.
Additionally, when you write your goals out it is important to capture them in colour. Our minds work in colour just think of your imagination when you imagine things you see in colour. Therefore, when you write your goals out your next step is to print what you see i.e. print the photo of the car, house, trip etc. create a vision environment use your photos around your home of what your future will be.
Goal setting is not goal setting without a plan and one of the best ways to plan is to write your goals out in four categories. Spiritual goals, Physical Goals, Financial Goals and Personal Goals. Listing your goals in these categories allows you to follow and focus on the goal. Remember every goal needs an action plan and every action plan needs to be executed.
When you envision your 2023 don’t be afraid to write your vision down. Your vision must be plain so anyone who sees it can run with it. What does this mean? If you are not sure of your vision no one can buy into it. My question for you What do you envision for your 2023 and how bad do you want it?

Great start to 2023 Kimesha….time to set those SMART goals.
I love this, it really makes me think about what I want to achieve. I know from past experience that being clear on what I wanted made it easier to achieve.
